Dually qualified as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) and a solicitor in England and Wales, Tobias Verlende is head of Brinkmann & Partner’s LLP London office, a leading German law firm in the field of restructuring and corporate law. Tobias’ main focus is to provide legal advice to international investors on their acquisition of German companies/assets.

Tobias completed his law studies at the Universities of Vienna, London and Cologne and holds a Master from London University (LLM), a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) as well as an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the European College of Business and Management in London. He gained working experience as an associate with Ince & Co in Hamburg, a legal trainee at the German Consulate General in Hong Kong and Freshfields in Frankfurt and as legal assistant at the Ochanomizu Law and Patent Office in Tokyo, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce in Brussels and Linklaters in Berlin.

Tobias is the Co-Chairman for the UK Region and Council Member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, Member of the Management Board of the German British Forum, President of the Hoppers Society and Associate at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb).

Alper represents a variety of lenders, sponsors, and borrowers.  He offers extensive experience handling transactions relating to debt capital markets, debt restructurings and derivatives, as well as international financing transactions. His practice includes representing both arrangers and issuers on debt capital market and structured finance transactions. In addition, Alper advises on derivatives transactions and ISDA documentation. He has particular experience with credit derivatives and property derivatives.

His practice encompasses work with a number of hedge, private equity and real estate funds on restructuring and refinancing issues, including insolvency laws, security enforcement, intercreditor analysis, standstill arrangements, debt buy-backs and general advice on strategy for negotiations with other creditors and distressed debtors.

Alper has co-authored the chapter “Restructuring Structured Finance Transactions” in The Law and Practice of Restructuring in the UK and US, published by Oxford University Press, April 2011

Alper is admitted as a solicitor and is a member of The Law Society of England and Wales. Alper earned his LL.B. (Hons) from University College, London in 1994 and his LL.M. from University College, London in 1995.

Daniel is a director in Zolfo Cooper’s financial advisory and restructuring services team and is based in London.

Daniel joined Zolfo Cooper in 1998 and focuses on advising both creditors and debtors in relation to situations of financial distress. Daniel’s experience includes financial restructuring, debt for equity swaps, independent business reviews  as well as contingency planning and formal insolvency assignments, many with cross-border elements.

Daniel graduated from the University of Southampton in 1997 with a degree in law, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

Helen is a senior administrator in Griffin’s personal insolvency team, dealing with complex and contentious bankruptcy cases.

Helen joined Griffins in 2008 and provides advice to debtors and creditors on dealing with difficult financial situations, as well as carrying out in-depth investigations into debtors’ financial affairs. Helen has also started dealing with tourism bankruptcy cases.

Helen graduated from the University of Bristol in 2002 with a degree in Anatomical Science and has passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.

Maribel Montero obtained an MA Arts from Edinburgh University and worked thereafter at Goldman Sachs and UBS AG in Fixed Income.

She subsequently focused on strategy and business development at Equity Trust and Butterfield Fulcrum.

She is currently working for Method Investments & Advisory in an advisory and research capacity within Family Office, focusing on investments and co-investments.
Maribel is a member of CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) and her interest include Fencing and The Arts.
